Jennifer Gaguancela 21, of Bloomfield and Savanah Diaz 20, of Newark went through self checkout and rang up $84 worth of items at the Franklin Street store on May 5, Bloomfield Public Safety Director Samuel DeMaio said.
What they failed to do, however, was ring up an additional $308 of additional items, DeMaio said.
Gaguancela and Diaz were charged with shoplifting and have pending court dates.
On April 29 and May 4, a black man took health and beauty products valued at $238, DeMaio said. Police were seeking his identity.
On May 7, a white or Hispanic man wearing blue jeans and a black sweatshirt took several deodorant products, police said. He was stopped by a loss prevention officer and the proceeds were returned to the store, DeMaio said.
However, after reviewing surveillance tapes, the prevention officer believes the man may have stolen more items in his book bag, authorities said.
Police are seeking the accused thief's identity.
On May 8, a suspect known to Bloomfield police as a repeat offender, stole nine items valued at $72, DeMaio said. Authorities identified him as Rhett Ellis.
The incident was under investigation by Bloomfield detectives.
